A compilation of nine short poetic films blending live action and animation. Tait reads a poem about the Spanish Civil War by Scottish poet, Sorley MacLean, over abstract animation and contemporary footage of war veterans in Noumen of the Boughs. Old Boots is a short study of a pair of resting Wellington boots; in Speed Boats, imporessionist imagery of various boats are accompanied by a whistled rendition of Over the Sea to Skye; Lapping Water consists of a number of close ups on the theme of water; Incense is a pun on innocence in this case the innocence of a young girl; a quarry and the notion of change are the subjects of Brave New World; Objects is a study of the things that people casually discard; and Terra Firma is a collage study of poppies.
